The Voters Speak!

Now that props 1A-1E have been voted down, the legislature needs to confront its addiction to spending. Again, there needs to be a complete audit of where OUR tax money is being spent. All waste must be eliminated.
I'll be the first to volunteer my services!

Jerry Hill votes against 3rd parties

As part of the weak budget that was passed this morning, Jerry Hill and other lawmakers of both parties elected to put a ballot measure in the June 2010 election that would change California's primaries to open primaries. This essentially removes the 3rd party voices from the November general election.
Not only that. In heavily gerrymandered districts, you could end up with two people from the same party to choose from in the general election.
One voice, one view to vote for, that's California's government for you.

Build Businesses, NOT Government

The massive "stimulus" bill Congress is trying to pass is nothing more than a plan to expand government projects. Taking taxpayer money and giving it to contractors to build stuff is not job creation. Expanding economic freedom by allowing current businesses to grow and new ones to form is job creation. New businesses will employ people for the long term and inspire others to create businesses of their own. The so called "stimulus" bill does nothing to create employment opportunities for the thousands of unskilled workers and laid-off retail and tech workers. It is a boon for contractors looking for their next project, though.
California is one of the states that deters business growth with excessive regulations, high taxes, unfair licensing requirements, and wasteful welfare spending. We need to expand economic freedom, not send companies packing to less restrictive states. The ability to exchange goods and services with others is a fundamental right of American citizens and the key to a freer, "stimulated" economy.

Fiscal Insanity!

First, Jerry Hill and the Democrats wanted to lower the 2/3 vote needed to pass a budget, because Republicans wouldn't cave in to more taxes.
Now the Dems simply say they'll call taxes "fees" in order to use a simple majority to pass them. So much for fiscal responsibility. There should be a complete audit of every government program to see if the taxpayers' money is being spent responsibly. We need to slash pensions, exorbitant salaries, wasteful perks, unnecessary bureaucracies, etc. Licensing and regulations need to be eased to allow new businesses to be created.
Irresponsible "fees" for California citizens cannot be tolerated. This new assembly has shown that nothing has changed as far as California politics is concerned.

6,801 is the grand total.

Again, thanks to all who voted for me. Hopefully this new session of California's assembly will bring fiscal responsibility and an end to paternalistic laws.

I can dream, can't I?

Thanks for voting for liberty!

I would like to thank all who voted for me for the 19th Assembly District! I am almost 6,000 votes, sure to pass it by next week's update.
I look forward to keeping an eye on Jerry Hill's next two years as Assemblyman. I hope he introduces bills to expand our liberties instead of eroding them.
I will continue the defend the liberties we hold dear!

Thanks again,
Brian Perry
